Take plain weave to a new level and weave yourself this sturdy diversified plain weave bag! It's a lot easier than it looks!
In this diversified plain weave one color of heavy warps and another color of heavy wefts form a pattern and are tied down by fine warps and wefts that form plain weave. The diamond pattern is formed using a straight twill threading draft.
The woven cloth is two-sided with the reverse pattern showing on the back. There are no long floats, the surface is tightly interlocked so it’s great for fabrics that get a lot of wear.
The heavier warp and weft yarns, 8/4 Cotton Rug Warp are interlaced with the thinner 10/2 Pearly Perle threads producing a fabric perfect for this tote.
Finished size of fabric after washing to complete the bag: 25.75" x 56".
Kit includes white plus one color. Select color below.
This project is featured in Handwoven May/June 2012. You will need to purchase this copy of Handwoven for all warping and weaving instructions if you don't already own this issue.
