Connections that Make a World of a Difference
Everyday we have the opportunity to do things, big and small, that can make a positive impact on someone else’s day, on someone else’s life! The most wonderful thing about being human is our ability to share love, compassion, and empathy for the world around us.
When Irene was introduced to the Natural Dye Project in 2013, sponsored by Mayan Hands of Guatemala, she knew that this was one of those opportunities where she could help create change, and a positive impact on someone else’s life.
The Start of A New Beginning
The Natural Dye Project all started with a small group of women living in the mountains of San Rafael, Guatemala and a crew of inspiring volunteers. The Guatemalan women in this group were taught every step in the process of dying, winding and packing these beautiful natural colored yarns.
With this fantastic volunteer crew, and the women’s excitement for learning, the Friendship Towels with Tintes Naturales Kits were created!
New Possibilities!
With the skills of creating these beautiful hand dyed yarns and the ongoing popularity of the Friendship Tintes Naturales Kits the women in Guatemala working with the Natural Dyes Project are able to earn more than just a living wage. With the amount of money they earn from creating the Friendship Kits these women are able to save money for themselves, and their family, to buy things such as food staples (corn), electricity for their homes, and even money for their children’s education.
