Three Times the Fun! This month's challenge will be creating a Houndstooth weave structure with three colors in the warp and weft. Our "Three Times the Fun" Towels are the perfect opportunity to expand your weaving skills and create a beautiful pattern that will not only be fun but will be easier than you might think. We touched base with houndstooth back in November with our Houndstooth & Color Play Towels where we created the Houndstooth design using two shuttles as we weave. We learned how easy it is to achieve such an interesting design while still weaving in just plain...

Weave Along with Deborah Jarchow: Brook's Bouquet Scarf This month we are excited to team up with Deborah Jarchow to learn all about the hand manipulated technique, Brook's Bouquet! Brook's Bouquet is a beautiful weave structure that adds dimension and interest to your weaving. This technique is also called lace-weave and is created by wrapping your weft yarn around the warp yarns. It is an open-shed technique, which means it's created when the shed is open. All you need is yarn and a shuttle to achieve this lacy effect. By combining plain weave and Brook's Bouquet, elliptical shapes are created. You can create this hand manipulated...

This is easily accomplished by choosing a thinner warp and combining it with a thicker weft. The weft threads will be dominant in the weaving, but we will still see the warp colors showing through. This technique can also be called weft rib-weave. Our project this month will be using 8/2 cotton in the warp, while the weft consists of Mop Cotton and 8/2 cotton. Mop Cotton...

Houndstooth and More Color Play! This month we are going to focus on weaving houndstooth with a bit of color play! We had so much fun in October with our "Playing with Color Challenge" that I wasn't quite ready to move on to something completely new. I wanted to bring a new technique to the table, but still have lots of color in our project. I also wanted to keep things easy, because that's how I like weaving to be. Easy and quick so that you can relax, have fun, and fit all of your weaving projects into your schedule. With all...
