Woven in cheerful rainbow hues with our Aurora Earth 100% cottons, this project brings a burst of confetti-like color straight to your loom!

Designed for rigid heddle and multi-shaft weavers, this project is wonderful for those new to waffle weave, and equally enjoyable for experienced weavers looking for a burst of color to welcome Spring to their loom and home.

Our Confetti Waffle Weave Towel project explores how intentional color placement in the warp can completely transform the feel of a woven cloth. This thoughtful sequencing creates a seamless fade, where each color softly blends into the next. The result isn’t abrupt or segmented, but fluid and continuous.

Built on a structured waffle weave foundation, the gradual color shift brings movement and rhythm to the fabric. It’s a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most striking designs don’t come from contrast alone, but from connection — one color gently leading you into the next, thread by thread.

Weave structure: waffle weave 

Equipment needed: rigid heddle or 4 shaft loom; 12 or (12.5) dent reed; 24.66” (23.63”) weaving width; 1 shuttle; 1 pick-up stick for rigid heddle looms.

Warp Yarns: Aurora Earth 8/2 Cottons, Lipstick, Orange, Maize, Winter Green, Nassau Blue, and Purple.

Weft Yarn: Aurora Earth 8/2 Cotton White.

Total warp ends: 296 doubled ends (592 warp threads)

Warp length: 3 yards (108”)

Setts:

• EPI - 24 using a 12 dent or 25 using a 12.5 dent reed (doubled in slots and holes).
• PPI - 13 on rigid heddle loom, or 13-14 on multi shaft loom.
