Gabi's Engagement Towels

Designed by Kristina Halvorsen

These towels were designed by Kristina Halvorsen to celebrate her niece Gabi’s engagement. Inspired by Gabi’s personality and the joy of this special occasion, Kristina knew she wanted to create a towel project that was feminine, cheerful, and a little bit playful.

The design is inspired by Marguerite Porter Davison’s Scandinavian Favorites crackle structure. Kristina especially enjoys the rhythm of weaving pattern, tabby, pattern, tabby, along with the charming Scandinavian design and beautiful texture created by the crackle weave. 

Weave Structure: crackle weave

Yarns: Aurora Earth 8/2 Cotton in White and Black for the borders, Plum Green for the accent stripe, and Beauty Rose for the main color. Yarns for inkle band tabs are also included.

Note: the original design was woven with cottolin but this kit comes with 100% cotton yarns.

Equipment Needed:  4-shaft loom; 23″ weaving width; 10 dent reed; two shuttles and bobbins, sewing thread for hemming; inkle loom if adding hanging tabs.

Finished size: 6 hemmed towels 19.5" x 30".
