These charming Holiday Tree Towels are a fun way to bring a little holiday cheer to your weaving. Designed by Karen Tenney for an 8-shaft loom, they feature a decorative border of sprightly trees that gives these fingertip towels their festive character.

They’re just the right size for holiday gifts, a guest bath, converting to a table runner, or adding a handmade touch to your own home. They’re also a fun project to weave in multiples when you need a few extra gifts during the holiday season.

The pattern was originally featured in the November/December 2009 issue of Handwoven and is also available as a single pattern from Long Thread Media. The pattern is sold separately from this weaving kit.

Woven with 100% cotton yarns, the finished towels are soft, absorbent, and wonderful to weave with. Cotton makes such a nice choice for handwoven towels because they become even softer with washing while continuing to be useful and beautiful for years to come.

Weave structure: Plain weave with supplementary-weft pattern on a rosepath threading

Yarns: Organic 10/2 Cotton Natural, Aurora Earth 8/2 Winter Green and Lipstick, and 16/2 Organic Ecocot Natural.

Equipment needed: 8-shaft loom; 17" weaving width; 12-dent reed; 2 shuttles, and 4 bobbins.

Finished size: four hemmed towels 14 3/4" × 20" each.

Instructions needed: Handwoven November/December 2009 pages 62-23, available from Long Thread Media. The pattern is sold separately.
