Leno Hemp Market Tote

In anticipation of the spring opening of her local farmers‘ market, Yvonne designed a lacy bag with a sturdy plain-weave bottom section to safely hold fresh produce.

She wove the handles using the same hemp but with a tighter beat for long-lasting wear.

This all-hemp bag is machine washable, making it just that much more useful.

Weave Structure:  plain weave with Leno

Yarns: Just Hemp

Equipment needed: rigid heddle loom; 19" weaving width; 5-dent reed; 1 shuttle; 20" pick-up stick; small stick shuttle for weaving handles (optional).

Finished size:  16" × 14" with 24" handles (after wet-finishing and sewing)
