Modern Rep Bath Mats

This weaving kit includes all the yarns needed to weave these Modern Rep Bath Mats that were designed by Colleen Johnson for Handwoven March/April 2021.

Create these thick mats that will stay put where they lay but lightweight enough for machine washing.

Rep weave is a warp-faced weave good for making bold geometric designs.  Alternating thick and thin weft picks give rep weave its characteristic ribs and create the design by emphasizing the warp colors selected on the thick picks.

Weave Structure: rep weave

Yarns: 8/2 Aurora Earth Cotton, Natural Mop Cotton, 10/2 Softspun

Equipment needed: 4 or 8 shaft loom, 26" weaving width, 12 dent reed, 1 boat shuttle, 1 rag shuttle

Finished size: two mats 24 1/4” x 32”
