There's a special kind of magic in creating something handwoven to wear. This easy to weave and even easier to wear top features a relaxed fit and flowing design that will quickly become a go-to favorite in your wardrobe.

The Phoenix Rising Top is a flattering, easy-to-wear top that brings handwoven beauty to your everyday wardrobe. With its flowing sleeves and boat neck design, it looks effortlessly stylish on its own or layered over a long-sleeve shirt for added versatility.

Weave structure: plain weave with clasped weft

Yarns: Softspun 5/2 Perle Cotton in three colors and Caterpillar Cotton for the clasped weft. We are offering two options choose from, Fire or Sand.

Equipment needed:  rigid heddle or 4-shaft loom; 12” weaving width; 10-dent reed; 1 shuttle.

Finished size: Woven length: (measured under tension on the loom) 184". Finished size: (after seaming, hemming, and wet-finishing) Each of 4 panels is 10.5” wide x 39.25” long, after sewn together 1 item, 36” wide × 20.5” long.

Join Deborah Jarchow for a Zoom Class! 

You are invited to attend an online zoom class for this Phoenix Rising Top.  In this tutorial Deborah will discuss putting a long warp of 220” on the rigid heddle loom, weaving the fabric that includes plain weave and some clasped weft, and sewing the pieces together to complete this splendid garment. 

Two sessions will be offered, and a recording will be available for two weeks if you can’t attend on August 17th.

Class Schedule: Sunday, August 17th, 2025.

Times: 9am Arizona and Pacific time (12pm Eastern, 11pm Central, 10am Mountain) or at 1pm Arizona and Pacific time (4pm Eastern, 3pm Central, 2pm Mountain).

The cost for this class is $25. Email Deborah at djweaves@me.com and let her know which class you’d like to attend. She will contact you with more information and the link needed to participate in the class. 

Kit purchase is not required to sign up for this class. Class and kits are sold separately. Be sure to sign up early to reserve your spot. We hope to see you there!
