Seed Cotton Unginned
New crop, limited supply. Order now!
Many of our devoted cotton spinners have asked for Seed Cotton, which is not normally available. We made a special request from our local cotton gin to set aside some cotton before putting it through the ginning process. We have a limited supply and may run out before next year's crop.
What is "Seed Cotton" and why would you want to spin with it?
Seed cotton is the cotton fiber that has been picked (mechanically) from the plant. The fiber is still attached to the seed (unginned).
***This seed cotton has NOT been ginned and it's packed full of cotton seeds. There is plant debris still mixed with the cotton as shown in the photos.
Hand spinners love to spin from Seed Cotton because the fibers are longer and more continuous, since they haven't been torn apart when the fiber is usually separated from the seed in the ginning process. The fiber easily separates from the seed when handspinning.
Grown in Southern Arizona by local farmers in Graham County.
