Plaid Luncheon Cloth

Designed by Janice Jones and featured in Handwoven, Sept/Oct 1990.

Deep fall colors dominate this cloth, celebrating the crisp, cool days of autumn.

Weave structure: Huck and plain weave. The cloth’s unique texture comes from the widely spaced huck floats. The characteristic known as tracking is used with plain weave and thick outline threads (bundled ends of 8/2 cotton).

Yarns: Aurora Earth 8/2 cotton

Equipment needed: 4 shaft loom; 40" weaving width; 15 epi.

Finished dimensions: One hemmed luncheon cloth, 33" by 33". You can also adjust the pattern to make two towels if you don't have 40" weaving width.

Instructions needed: Originally published in Handwoven, Sept/Oct 1990 and can also be found in Best of Handwoven: Yarn Series-A Dozen Projects in 8/2 Cotton (eBook) from Long Thread Media. Instructions sold separately from this kit.
