Polka Dot Towels Kit – Designed by The Rogue Weaver
The Polka Dot Towel project is a technique-based weaving experience designed to build confidence using pick-up sticks and optional string heddles on a rigid heddle loom.
This project has an option for two different towels woven on the same warp. The first towel introduces a more complex pattern using two pick-up sticks, or one pick-up stick combined with string heddles. This approach allows you to explore a more efficient way to manage pattern sheds while still giving you the option to weave entirely with pick-up sticks if you prefer.
The second towel is woven in plain weave, creating bold horizontal stripes with a simple structure. It offers a more relaxed weaving experience while still producing a finished towel that complements the first.
Having both towels in one project allows you to choose your path. You can focus on learning the technique, keep things simple, or weave both towels to build confidence and deepen your understanding of pick-up stick weaving.
To support the process, the pattern includes video resources for key steps, including a demonstration of how to insert and use string heddles, along with additional guidance throughout the project. Please note that the pattern is sold separately and can be purchased from The Rogue Weaver.
By the end of this project, you will gain a clearer understanding of how pick-up stick patterns are built, how string heddles can improve efficiency at the loom, and how small structural changes can create very different weaving results.
