Winter Twill Towels

Bring a fresh winter feeling to your loom with these beautiful twill towels. The crisp, cheerful color combination gives the towels a bright seasonal look, while the twill structure adds texture and movement to the fabric.

The three shaft twill creates a lovely diagonal pattern, with the fabric appearing weft dominant on one side and warp dominant on the reverse. It’s always fun to see how the two sides of the cloth take on a slightly different character when they are off the loom.

This is a satisfying project for exploring three shaft twill and watching the pattern develop as you weave. The simple weave structure and playful color changes make this a fun project to settle in and enjoy, with beautiful towels waiting for you at the end.

Weave structure:  twill/weaving on two heddles

Yarns: Aurora Earth 8/2 Cottons royal blue, dark navy, gold, and plum green.

Equipment needed: rigid heddle loom; 24" weaving width; TWO 12 or 12.5 dent reeds; 5 shuttles. 

Finished size: two hemmed towels, 19.25”x 30”.
